Schoolyard Jamboree Soccer

Schoolyard Jamboree Program - Spring 2025 Season

The Schoolyard Jamboree Soccer program is an active program that requires adult participation. The program introduces our young players (4 years old, born in 2020) to soccer in a fun, pressure-free environment. In AYSO Schoolyard Jamboree, the kiddos get to play soccer in a developmentally-appropriate program. The kids learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, and throw-ins in a low-pressure and fun setting, while still perfecting their gross motor skills. The program transitions into 3v3 game play to gradually expose children to the game without the pressue to win.

Program Structure and Information

AYSO volunteer assistant coaches lead sessions that create a fun, parent participatory atmosphere utilizing age-appropriate activities. Parent participation is required! Parents help take turns organizing the teams, setting up fields and supervising the program. While their children are playing, parent volunteers keep time, but interfere with play as little as possible because too much direct instruction can confuse players. There are only a few reasons to stop play in Jamboree games. If a child is not playing well with others, or if play must pause for injury, substitution, confusion, or to watch a flock of birds fly by, parents can quickly direct attention back to the game.

In Jamboree, goals are not counted to determine who wins – every player is a winner. Young players need to get a feel for the ball and the field, so even though there are adults all around and many opportunities to offer instruction, the emphasis is on fun and play.

Spring Season 2025 registration includes the following:

  • 8 sessions led by an activity leader and supported by the assistant coaches and parents.
  • Uniform jersey, socks, and shorts
  • Basic picture package
  • Player insurance

There will be an orientation scheduled (~February/March) to provide additional information about how the program will run and the fun that can be expected! After you register, please check your email in January for more information. We also need some assistant coaches to help with the program! If you're interested in helping all the kiddos, please submit your volunteer application online!
