Upper Divisions: 16U and 19U
16U and 19U Divisions are the culmination of learning. These divisions are designed to sharpen players' decision-making skills, strategic awareness, and tactical execution
- Rosters are formed with players born between 2006 and 2010. When enough participants and volunteers register, the teams will be divided based on age and gender. If there are not enough in a given division to roster based on 16U/19U and/or gender the team composition may be shifted to coed or to a combined 16U/19U division. As of 6/16/2024, the teams will be structured as defined below.
- 16U (2009-2010) Boys and Girls
- 19U (2006-2008) Coed
- The teams typically practice twice per week, for 1.5 hours per session, although coaches may add additional training opportunities.
- Games are held anywhere in the Area 10D geography: from Hesperia to the Lancaster/Palmdale area. The furthest region from us is Quartz Hill, although they tend to meet us in Lancaster (both teams travel part-way).
- Plays 11v11 with goalkeepers
- Games are two 40-minute halves with at most 5-minute half-time and water/substitution breaks approximately half-way through each half (“quarters). The clock does NOT stop during “quarter” water/substitution breaks, so they must be as short as possible
- Certified referees MUST be available to officiate or the game will be rescheduled
- If enough referees are available, they will also serve as Assistant Referees.
- If there are not enough trained referees available for the Assistant Referee positions, a volunteer from each sideline will be asked to serve as a "club linesman."
- No restrictions on the full Laws of the Game (LotG)
- Players born in 2006 must complete SafeSport training per State legislature. These players will be the age of majority in this year.
NOTE: Players in these ages are STRONGLY encouraged to start volunteering. High Schools, vocational schools, AVID, etc often require community service hours, which we will sign-off. Volunteerism is often a huge addition to college applications and resumes.
Hesperia AYSO hosts "Youth Coach Helper" and "Youth Referee" programs where our soon-to-be adults can start a volunteering life-style. There are numerous incentives to encourage players to participate. Reach out to Coach Vince (
